About

I am Felia Zemmouri, an experienced independent Child Consultant registered with Social Work England (Registered Member: SW18784). A Mother and a Foster Carer who loves helping and empowering others, I have been fortunate enough to have an excellent career with 20+ years of experience supporting dozens of children and their families and inspiring them to get through all sorts of emerging problems.

I am a Belgian and British national who has been working with children and their families since 2004 which means I can genuinely understand what vulnerable people feel and think and assist with professional assessment, therapeutic work and mental health aid.

I believe that my vast personal experience is what has made me excel. Throughout my career, I have always followed a simple principle, “I aim to work with people rather than work for them.” People’s experiences are at the heart of everything I can accomplish together with them. I believe that this approach ensures that anyone can reach their full potential, and it enables me to provide families with the right knowledge and set of skills to build upon their strengths. My ultimate goal is to help people thrive in life and achieve brighter purposes.

"Helping families is a true passion of mine"

In 2004, I started working privately as a Social Worker conducting assessments and therapeutic work for children and their families. Later on, in 2009, I began working for the local authority and in 2020, I decided to take the next step and go independent, starting up KidZhope.

“One of the most rewarding things in my life is the relationships I can develop when working with others. I value every connection in life that makes me evolute as a person, especially those that make me a better self both as a professional and as a human being.”

“I love promoting creative activities where everyone can take an active role. Every time I work with children, I develop a calendar of activities for young people and involve them. I have had excellent experiences in the past with initiatives such as brainstorming or storytelling. I also focus on implementing various creative ways of communicating with those less fluent in English by using visual and illustrative questionnaires or drawings and other art forms.”

“Supporting people is my true passion, and for me, this is more than just a job. I run out of words to describe the joyful feeling that I experience when I connect with someone at a deeper level. Guiding people to get through personal challenges and emotional burdens cannot be just another job, it is a duty towards the society that I must fulfil. I often see people in their most desperate and lowest point in their lives. There are feelings of shame, unworthiness, sadness, anger, and hopelessness. But, as we work together, they start to heal their minds and see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

“As I often say to my clients, I cannot do the work for you, but I will be here to guide you through the process. It is them who have to pursue a better, stronger and more resilient version of themselves. And when they finally arrive at it, it becomes one of the most fulfilling moments of their lives (and mine too). I see people who have suffered badly evolving from a place of loneliness and despair to a place of newfound hope.

"I have already helped many families over the last 20 years and proudly received many referrals from former happy clients."

I am particularly fond of an analogy I heard many years ago about Michelangelo, the great Italian sculptor. Michelangelo used to say to his students that every time he saw a piece of raw marble, he would begin to sense a hidden sculpture within. And every time he carved the marble, he would be liberating the beauty inside, or, as he used to say, he would be gradually “freeing” the imprisoned sculpted form. When I work with vulnerable people, I try to inspire them to feel they are that grandmaster and the marble is a brighter future life awaiting to be freed. I strive to make them sense what is needed, and occasionally I hand them certain tools to fulfil their goals. It is a long and difficult path, but I have witnessed numerous times how they get better at carving the marble and exposing
what’s hidden. It is really motivating to see how, just like in Michelangelo’s sculptures, the beauty becomes more and more evident after the hard work.

Together with supporting people comes my second passion, listening to other people’s life stories. I believe in creating a warm environment where everyone can share their past experiences confidently. Confidence, trust and reliance are the keys to getting to know anyone deeply and beyond a superficial level. The mental wellbeing of children and families is my top priority, and so my work is orientated towards a meaningful and lasting change in a confident space. I strive to achieve that my clients gain a better understanding of their issues and their root causes. For me, it is paramount that they find appropriate ways to manage their emotions to move forward with confidence.

I am personally committed to assisting children and families, whatever their personal circumstances and the gravity of their problems. However, it is worth remarking that numerous research works have consistently shown over the years that early intervention by a capable professional can prevent future emotional and behavioural problems.
In your first consultation, I can guarantee that I will be able to support you to identify and articulate the worries that are causing you pain. My approach will be completely tailored to you and your family needs. You will be able to schedule our weekly sessions as you go, either in person, by phone or video call. Step by step, we will work together on a professionally tailored care plan specially prepared for you and your family where you can all establish profound connections with each other.

Over my 20 years of professional experience, I have developed multiple care plans and treatment tools for a wide range of vulnerable children of all ages, backgrounds and places of birth. My methods, sessions, and activities are focused on encouraging children to discuss their feelings and will vary depending on the child’s personal circumstances such as age, sex, cultural background, family situation, income or current location. Sessions will not be about teaching the right behaviours, as this is not my preferred methodology. I will be there to show some light to you and talk about the most suitable coping mechanism tools for every situation. My aim is that your children can find out by themselves their better version, become more resilient and develop a relentless determination to keep moving forward regardless of the difficulties.

The first step is always the hardest, but believe me when I say that if you decide to be brave enough to take the first step, I will be here to help you and your children throughout the whole process. Abandoning your comfort zone can be a daunting process, but everyone deserves a better life. Life can be tough sometimes, and nobody said that being a parent was easy.
What is important is to act now to achieve that perfectly balanced feeling between you and your family, in your relationships with friends or at work. Just ask yourself, what could my life become if I was not afraid?

Over the years, I have developed a natural sense to establish close relationships with people from all backgrounds, and I hope to continue doing so for many more years to come. I regard myself as a lucky person for being able to support, encourage and empower people in their everyday lives whilst I enjoy mine. To keep my mind in good condition to help others, I also try to enjoy my everyday life as much as possible with fun activities such as eating out, exercising, being creative and spending quality time with my family and friends.

I am based in Slough, Berkshire and currently operate in Slough and nearby areas within 20 miles.

Your mental and family’s mental health cannot wait for things to resolve themselves. A small initial effort can make a big difference in the long run. You may not be in control of all the things around you, but you can walk the first step towards starting living a happier life.
